Online Shopping And Holiday Season

Online shoppers spent $18.6 billion, without travel in the period between Oct. 29 and Dec. 9. That is a 16% increase from the same period in 2004, according to the Goldman, Sachs & Co., Nielsen/NetRatings and Harris Interactive Holiday eSpending Report.

It is interesting to know that consumer electronics is not on the first place for online spending. Online shoppers spent $3.4 billion on clothing and apparel, on consumer electronics e-shoppers spent $2.8 billion , then come computer peripherals with $2.7 billion, books are on the 4th place with spending of $2.2 billion and finally, for toys and video games people spent $1.4 billion.

Another respected research company comScore Networks reported that from November, 1st to December 16th, online shoppers spent $15.9 billion which is a 23% increase from $12.9 billion a year earlier.
